Superfried have recently been working on some potential smart phone apps. Very quickly it became apparent that the fonts installed on Android/Apple were not consistent and the licensing of fonts on multiple devices looked complicated and expensive. With no guaranteed return from the apps in question it was clear that the simplest answer would be to just develop our own.
As the name suggests, Basik is a simple, clean, economical sans serif font that will provide a consistent look and feel for apps working across all mobile operating systems. During the development we looked at all of our favourite sans serif fonts and tried to incorporate aspects we feel made them cool whilst ditching those that niggled and made them frustrating to use. As usual, our font probably breaks all of the 'typography' rules, but we like it and hope you do too.
