Maluku in typography by Daniël Matakupan, The Maluku Island (also known as the Moluccan Island, the Spice Island) are an archipelago that is part of Indonedia, and part of the larger Maritime Southeast Asia region. Tectonically they are located on the Halmahera Plate within the Molucca Sea Collision Zone. Geographically they are located east of Sulawesi (Celebes), west of New Guinea, and north and east of Timor. The Moluccas (Maluku) are an archipeago in the earst of the Indian Archipelago, situeated between (clockwise) Celebes, the Phillippines, New Guinea and Timor. The Moluccas are geographically to Melanesia but politics in Indoneasia. The name "Moluccas" is derived from al-Muluk Jazirat 'Isle of the Kings ", a name which Arab traders to the islands are. I am full Moluccan... Therefore I wanted to make this typography...I first drawn the type on paper with ink and digitalize and finished it in Illustrator and Photoshop. This artwork started as a personal typography but I decided to print it out on paper a gave them as a Christmas gift to several family members.
