    Visual Communication
  • While studying at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC) and frequenting The Newberry Library of Chicago, I observed vellums from the fifteenth-century and type specimens of early twentieth-century. The following two sections of images showcase my thesis exhibition presented at The Sullivan Galleries in Chicago, IL during the Spring 2009.
  • 9 coauthored colophons

    letterpress on Rives BFK;
    (2) handset set colophons; (7) inket on Rives BFK;13 x 16 in (unframed), 2009

    In my study of type design, the colophon is a tool to better understand the role of the book designer and the type designer as authors. The nine coauthored colophons featured here subsided from a collection of thirty.
  • Type as Relic

    8 wooden glyphs, lasercut on birch, 8 x 8 in (individually)

    A glyph is a graphic representation of a character. Each glyph represents one of three typefaces designed and describes a variation of the definition of penman.
